Hardik Pandya Slams Paparazzi for ‘Disrespectful’ Photograph of Girlfriend Mahieka Sharma

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has sharply rebuked a paparazzo after an intrusive photograph of his girlfriend Mahieka Sharma surfaced online, prompting a wider conversation about media ethics and the treatment of women in the public eye.
The picture, reportedly taken outside a Bandra restaurant, was clicked while Mahieka was descending a staircase. Pandya, angered by the angle and intent of the shot, took to Instagram to call out what he described as a “line no one should cross.”
In a strongly worded statement on his Story, Pandya said the image amounted to “cheap sensationalism,” stressing that dignity must not be compromised under the pretext of celebrity coverage.
“This isn’t about who took the photo or which outlet posted it,” he wrote. “It’s about basic respect. Women deserve dignity. Everyone deserves boundaries.”
Pandya acknowledged that public figures often face relentless attention, but urged photographers and entertainment portals to exercise restraint and empathy. According to him, being in the spotlight does not justify invasive or objectifying behaviour.
“Not everything needs to be captured,” he added. “Not every angle deserves to be taken. Let’s keep some humanity in this game.”
His remarks have sparked discussions across social media, with many users backing the cricketer’s call for responsible coverage and greater sensitivity toward women’s privacy. The photographer involved has not issued a statement so far.
