Following a condolence gathering in Delhi, veteran actress and BJP MP Hema Malini organized another prayer meet for her late husband Dharmendra at the Shri Krishna Janmashtami Ashram in Vrindavan, Mathura. The event saw members of the political community and fans come together to honour the legendary actor’s life and work.

Hema Malini shared a special video on Instagram that was showcased during the prayer meet, highlighting Dharmendra’s enduring charm, immense talent, and the remarkable impact of his films. She wrote, “Special tribute to Dharam ji highlighting his evergreen appeal, his charisma, his immense talent and his tremendous, impactful presence in all his movies. This visual tribute was made for the two prayer meetings that I had arranged in Delhi and Mathura.”

Prior to the Mathura event, Hema Malini hosted a prayer meeting in Delhi on December 11, attended by Union Ministers Amit Shah and JP Nadda, along with several other ministers and parliamentarians. During the Delhi gathering, she reflected on Dharmendra’s lesser-known passion for poetry and his dream of writing a book.

“Over time, a hidden aspect of his personality emerged… jab woh Urdu ki Shayari karne lage. Unki khaas baat yahi thi ki koi bhi paristithi ho, woh uske anusar turant ek sher suna dete the… yeh unki khoobi thi. I often told him he should write a book—his fans would have loved it. So, he was very serious about it and was planning everything, but woh kaam par adhura reh gaya,” she said.

Dharmendra’s passing marked the end of an era in Hindi cinema. Celebrated for his versatility across genres, he earned a lasting place in the hearts of audiences with iconic performances in films such as Aya Sawan Jhoom Ke, Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Ayee Milan Ki Bela, and Anupama.

Through these prayer meets, Hema Malini not only paid homage to her late husband’s cinematic achievements but also remembered the creative and poetic side of a man who left an indelible mark on Indian cinema.
